I’m back in Madrid with post-festival blues. I spent the weekend at Sonar festival (Barcelona) with Harper’s Bazaar Spain.
Over the years, Barcelona’s festival experience has been getting better and better. Sonar is the one Spanish festival I still hadn’t been to, so I was happy that I finally got to go to a festival I’d heard so many great things about.
I’d been following Metronomy’s work for a few years, & absolutely adored their last album The English Riviera (I haven’t been able to get their track “Everything Goes My Way” out of my head for over a year). This time last year they played in Barcelona at an off-Sonar show, & this time they came as part of Sonar’s line-up, that included other bands, Dj’s & artists like New Order, The Roots, Madeon, Fatboy Slim, Deadmau5, Hot Chip, Lana del Rey, Die Antwoord, Friendly Fires.
On Saturday I had the pleasure of finally being able to watch them play live. It was an even bigger pleasure to sit down with them for a chat about Sonar & other festival experiences.
